Building Community: A Guidebook for Schools and Youth-Serving Programs

$15.00

About: This guidebook is intended for schools and youth-serving programs looking to build stronger, more intentional communities through active exercises and strategies.   Building community is an essential way to establish a positive emotional climate in a school or youth setting. Establishing such a climate is key to supporting youth motivation, engagement, interest, and learning.

A vital part of using icebreakers and team-building exercises is being deliberate in selecting when and how to use each activity. In order to help users choose the best activity for their needs, this guidebooks splits the activities into three different “risk” levels : low, medium and high.  Furthermore activities are divided across six types of activities;  Name Games, Get To Know You , Energizers, Team Building, Thinking Deeply and Reflection.  This guidebook has a total of 56 different activities, each detailed with the materials needed, purpose, time suggested to implement, step by step procedure and debrief questions (see sample page).
