Dear NZ Community,
Youthful chatter and laughter emerge from the cafe as young people grab pancakes after school. Our community circle needs more chairs. And Saturday nights, the venue is sold out.
Every word written, line drawn or note played shows that NZ continues to be a space where youth feel safe, find community and experience joy.
This past year, we have
organized and hosted weekly workshops for 75+ youth in three high schools: Washtenaw Alliance Virtual Education, Ypsilanti High School, and Pathways;
engaged 50+ youth in three ongoing creative and healing diversion workshops a week, in partnership with the courts;
hosted 16 free weekly after school programs for 250+ youth;
engaged 60 youth in education and workforce coaching and supportive service.
We continue to facilitate training and coaching in youth partnerships and restorative practice for schools and youth serving organizations.
It’s an honor to support young people as they work to be good humans in a society that continues to diminish the value of humanity.
