NEW THIS YEAR - Summer Drop In

June 24th - August 2nd from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday

All high school age youth are welcome to drop in to the NZ to connect with friends and engage in daily program activities. Summer drop in is free.
(no drop-in hours  the week of July 1-5th)


Featured Summer Camps

NZ Features two weeks of summer camp, one for high school (entering 9-12 grade) and one for entering 7th and 8th grade across all NZ program in arts, music and leadership.

Teens select ONE track for the week when registering (tracks are listed in bold below), but work collaboratively across areas to host a culminating event on the last day.  

Light snacks will be available, please bring a sack lunch and water bottle

High School Program

Time: 9:30 am – 3:30 pm (Drop off as early as 9:00 am). Culminating event for friends and family on Friday, June 28th from 4 pm – 6 pm

Music Programming
Music industry performance-  learn live DJ-ing and beat production or compose music and record in the Orpheum Studio to support your musical voice.

Roots: Grounding, Growing, Sustaining and Creating Social Change
What do you need to feel safe, supported and motivated to impact  your community? Explore the many ways in which social justice, inclusion, and community activism support change in our society.

Drawing/Painting/Printmaking
Engage with the fundamentals of basic drawing, painting, and printmaking. Create works for an end of week gallery.  All levels of skills and experience encouraged to join.

Volume Summer Institute
Join professional poets to develop your  writing skills through daily poetry workshops in a relaxed and encouraging environment.  All experience levels welcome.

Video Production
Take your storytelling to a visual level.  Shoot, edit and screen your own production to friends and family.

Learn to interact with the camera and compose photos.  Ann Arbor will be the inspiration for talking hikes and shooting pictures.  Bring your own camera, smartphone, or use one of NZ’s shared cameras.
