"I Name This Body MINE" is an anthology of poetry by Anika Love, Lilly Kujawski and Ann Arbor Youth Poet Laureate Aldo Leopoldo Pando Girard, the three features of Poetry Night in Ann Arbor 2018. The book explores themes of belonging, healing and reclaiming the parts of ourselves that have been silenced or oppressed, re-writing trauma narratives and re-imagining the world as we dream it.

Testimonials:

The honesty and rawness pouring out from each poet is baptizing. It's humbling to see others break open gracefully on page, and invite the reader to journey with them on a sacred walk to know freedom. Beautiful!

-Donte Clark, author of KnowFreedom

“I Name This Body MINE,” is a stunning collection of poems that will cast a prism across any hand that turns its pages—the words of Aldo Leopoldo Pando Girard, Lilly Kujawski & Anika Loveare just that brilliant. Laden with delicate lyricism and vulnerability at the core of their poetry, Girard, Kujawksi, & Love show us that identity is manifold, pulsing, necessary and worth defining on our own terms. This book is an act of love, rage, self-respect, and honesty. The words in “I Name This Body MINE” mark the moments in which flesh and spirit merge. These words create their own body, and this new body archives the way in which these blessed storytellers remember, scream, grow, dream, and claim their rightful place in forever. Theirs is a testimony that will not soon be forgotten.
