Neutral Zone, will host a county wide "Tech Challenge" opportunity for all high school aged youth. Our recent partnership with NETSCOUT will allow us to fund and or support 2-3 proposals to completion. We aim to hold a think-tank / brainstorming / meet up and team forming session, at the Neutral Zone, for interested youth and teachers to attend.
In a workshop format we will guide students to address a "problem, need, or activity" that a tech application, website, game, or object (that the students design) could solve. We will facilitate the formation of teams and give students the option to use the Neutral Zone's Zone Hack program time (Thursday's 4 - 5:30pm), to seek one on one mentor-ship from our Zone Hack adviser team.
The teams will be invited back in November (date tba) to pitch their ideas to a group of advisers and at that point the winning proposals will advance, having the rest of the school year to complete. In addition, we will connect these young tech students to local tech companies and innovative start ups, host site visits and tours, and have one of a kind speakers and workshops hosted at the Neutral Zone to compliment their projects.
