Traveling multi-media arts group for self motivated young artists looking to learn and be inspired by local spots like cafes, museums and galleries, natural parks, and other hidden gems of the city. Teens may use any artistic media that allows mobility. Bring a sketchbook for drawing, painting, writing, poetry, and/or cameras for capturing the inspiration around us.
July 5-9, 1-4pm, Cost: $150
Teens will make and perfect their own rhymes to instrumentals. Record a track in the NZ studio with extended mentored lab sessions so these new beats sound their best. In addition, participants will learn the music business basics, promoting, copyrighting, publishing, and label/self release.

Learn the basics of a music-recording studio. NZ provides electronic beatmaking stations with Mboxed and Mini Mac computers featuring Reason, Garageband, and ProTools LE software programs, two sets of DJ turntables and a fully functioning recording studio. Featuring workshops on keyboard classes to lyric writing, as well as ample time for music creation and recording.

This program is designed for students entering grades 6-8. Teens from the Neutral Zone's renowned Literary Arts programs will lead activities to inspire and challenge youth to develop their voice as a writer. Play with words, tell amazing stories, and make the impossible come to life.

Explore the Manistee River Trail. Surround yourself with Michigan’s beautiful outdoors in this 4-day, 21.5 mile hiking trip. Previous experience is NOT necessary. A lot of spirit, heart, and willingness required to experience the joys and less joyous parts of Mother Nature. Interviews required.

Ever wonder how to print and design a t-shirt? This week goes through the steps of silk-screening including researching, designing and printing our own line of t-shirts. Each student will design and produce 5 shirts. A partnership with staff from Modati Silk Screening.

In an active and engaging week of fun exercises, students will learn about the value of diversity, the challenges of oppression, and how to create positive change as leaders in their schools and communities. Each day will focus on a different dimension of diversity and identity, giving students skills in understanding diversity in our community. Combat discrimination.

Your Mission: in 24 hours write, track, and mix a collaborative recording. In our all night studio session, participants will work through various writing and recording modes to create songs, soundscapes, noise and sonic events under the limitation of a single day. Bring an instruments or NZ has a full arsenal of electric, acoustic, and percussion instruments. Food and snacks provided.
