Programs calendar for August.

Music Technology II

Aug 2-6, 1-4pm, Cost: $200. CLOSED

Learn the basics of a music-recording studio. NZ provides electronic beatmaking stations with Mboxed and Mini Mac computers featuring Reason, Garageband, and ProTools LE software programs, two sets of DJ turntables and a fully functioning recording studio. Featuring workshops on keyboard classes to lyric writing, as well as ample time for music creation and recording.

Advanced Photography

August 2-6, 1-4pm, Cost: $200. >

For students who already know the fundamentals of photography, may take their skills to the next step! Generate artistic subject matter, visual methods of researching ideas, and finally produce self-directed projects. Participants will take photos on hikes throughout Ann Arbor, gain inspiration from contemporary photographers, and participate in individual and group critiques. Bring your own camera or we have plenty to share.

Making Murals

August 9-13, 1-4pm, Cost: $150

Paint a mural at the Neutral Zone. Beginning with basic exercises in drawing, design, and painting, new artists will gain necessary skills while refreshing more experienced artists. Participants will use realistic accuracy, composition, and visual communication skills to create murals.

Beginning Photography II

August 16- August 20, 1-4pm, Cost: $200. CLOSED

Learn the fundamental principles of photography such as composition, value, color, portraiture, nature photography, and abstraction. Hike to fascinating photographic destinations, take tons of photographs, and return to the Neutral Zone for group critiques. Bring a camera or NZ has plenty to share.

End of the Summer Celebration

Thursday, August 26, 7pm, Free.

Neutral Zone welcomes all teens, their friends and families to celebrate the teens’ success throughout the summer!

24 Hour Music Project

July 31- August 1, 10am-10am, Cost: $125

Your Mission: in 24 hours write, track, and mix a collaborative recording. In our all night studio session, participants will work through various writing and recording modes to create songs, soundscapes, noise and sonic events under the limitation of a single day. Bring an instruments or NZ has a full arsenal of electric, acoustic, and percussion instruments. Food and snacks provided.
