Ann Arbor Wordworks presents HOMEGROWN on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater in the Michigan League. Come watch Ann Arbor’s finest young performance poets in action as they present their annual stage-shaking full-length poetry concert featuring individual and collaborative works by: Angel Nafis, Mike Moriarty, Maggie Ambrosino, Langston Kerman, Claire Forster, Daniel Bigham, Gahl Liberzon, Lauren Weston, Courtney Whittler, Peggy Burrows, Anthony Zick, Fiona Chamness and Ben Alfaro. Ann Arbor Wordworks, now in its sixth year, is a performance poetry troupe comprised of collegiate-aged writers who primarily began their writing and performance careers in high school as members of the Neutral Zone’s VOLUME Youth Poetry Project. These writers have performed all over the country as members of Ann Arbor Youth Poetry Slam teams, Chicago Youth Poetry Slam teams and University of Michigan Poetry Slam teams, including on such stages as the world famous Apollo Theater in New York and the San Francisco Opera House.0AIn addition to gaining national reputations as writers and performers, Wordworks poets are also active educators who teach poetry workshops in high schools, at juvenile detention centers and youth centers.
